Ukraine is already creating conditions for the development of a powerful export-oriented economy and calls on investors, in particular from France, to invest in Ukrainian industry, – noted First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko during a meeting with Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of the French Republic Roland Lescure.
“One of the main tasks of the Ukrainian Government today is to stimulate investment in the processing industry, which will lead to a structural change in Ukraine’s foreign trade in favour of non-raw materials exports. With the assistance of the Export Credit Agency, the plan is to support up to UAH 100 billion of Ukrainian exports over the next five years. This will increase total exports to USD 280 billion and create or save 26,000 jobs. The additional volume of financial resources for export-oriented business is planned to be increased from 0.3% of GDP to 5% of GDP by 2025. These steps will be implemented now, and then they will become part of the post-war economic recovery of Ukraine,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.
Moreover, according to her, in order to develop an export-oriented economy and exports with high added value, the state plans to:
- introduce a mode of promoting exports of processed products depending on the stage of their processing;
- develop a mechanism for encouraging producers of the green sector of exports to the EU;
- provide assistance to new exporters willing to enter the EU market;
- introduce war risk insurance for processing investments.
Yuliia Svyrydenko emphasized that investments in processing can be extremely profitable. The Minister of Economy of Ukraine expressed hope that France would contribute to the integration of Ukrainian manufacturers into European value added chains.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that Ukraine records a significant interest of French businesses in cooperation with Ukrainian in one or another format, in participation in reconstruction projects as well as in investments in the economy of Ukraine.
Therefore, the Ukrainian government is working to provide effective tools for insurance of war risks, which will accelerate the arrival of foreign business to Ukraine.
In turn, Roland Lescure assured Yuliia Svyrydenko of personal support in establishing a dialogue with French businesses. The Minister Delegate noted that all companies present at the Forum as well as other French companies showing interest in our country are ready to cooperate with Ukraine. And he can personally act as a mediator in the dialogue between the French private sector, Ukrainian businesses and the Ministry of Economy.
