The Netherlands Is Ready to Join the Reconstruction of Ukraine - Yulia Svyrydenko

First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of Foreign Trade and Cooperation for Development of the Kingdoms of the Netherlands Lissier Schreinemacher discussed at the meeting in the city of Kyiv the ways of liberalization of trade relations between the countries and participation of the Netherlands in the programs for restoration of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian party thanked the Kingdom of the Netherlands for its consistent support to Ukraine and its European choice, the introduction of sanctions against Russia and the provision of military, financial and humanitarian aid to our country.

Recall that the Netherlands supported the Recovery and Development Plan of Ukraine within the framework of the United 24 initiative and expressed the initiative to take the lead in the future reconstruction of Kherson region.

“The development of mechanisms for participation in joint projects, which will relate to restoration of infrastructure facilities, and in the construction of agricultural enterprises and innovation parks in Ukraine, is currently ongoing. It is also expected to attract Dutch investments in the energy, agriculture and food industry of our state”, said First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

In her turn, Minister of Foreign Trade and Cooperation for Development of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Lissier Schreinemacher reported during her visit that the Government of the Netherlands provides EUR 65 million for aid and investments in Ukraine.

It should be noted that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is one of the largest European trade partners of Ukraine. In 2021, the turnover between the countries increased by 29%. The Netherlands positions the second place by volumes of direct foreign investments in the economy of Ukraine. The country is also a leader in the issues of rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

As reported, following the recommendation of the European Commission, the Government of the Netherlands supported granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership and called this step a “reasonable compromise”.
