Ukraine and the United Kingdom Have Updated the Political, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership Agreement

Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy, and Melinda Simmons, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine, signed the second annex to the Political, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The document approves the simplification of mutual access to the public procurement market.

The agreement updates the thresholds and also changes the currency set to calculate them from the euro to the Special Drawing Rights (IMF). Provisions regarding the mutual application of public procurement in the provision of health services will also be streamlined.

Ukraine and the United Kingdom intend to keep developing the contractual and legal framework that will promote bilateral trade and strengthen ties between Ukrainian and British businesses.

“The update of the Political, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is an effective proof of active cooperation between Kyiv and London in the trade and economic spheres despite the ongoing russian aggression against Ukraine,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.

We remind you that the previous annexes to the Cooperation Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom were signed on 4 May this year. The document provides for the cancellation of all tariffs and quotas in mutual trade.
