Тарас Качка, Японська делегація

Japan intends to increase its presence in the Ukrainian investment market by joining programmes to support joint Ukrainian-Japanese business projects. In particular, to expand business relations in the field of investment and trade, the Japanese partners will open their JETRO office in Kyiv. The governments of both countries are also working to update the Agreement between Ukraine and Japan on the Promotion and Protection of Investments.

This was emphasised by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka during a meeting with the Economic Mission of the Government of Japan, which includes representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

"Japan continues to demonstrate a high level of support for Ukraine and is committed to deepening economic ties. The governments of Ukraine and Japan are already preparing a draft updated Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments, which will contribute to economic development and trade expansion between the two countries. The Agreement, in particular, will provide Japanese investors with reliable legal protection and guarantees for their investments, which is an important motivation for investment in the private sector and projects to restore Ukraine," said Taras Kachka.

In particular, Japan plans to provide €160 million to support Ukraine's economic recovery projects. Ukraine's priorities include energy, housing, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining and business support.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the participation of representatives of the Government of Japan and Japanese business in the URC 2024, the main goal of which is to consolidate international support for the restoration, recovery, reform and modernisation of Ukraine. The parties also discussed preparations for EXPO 2025 in Osaka and the OECD Ministerial Meeting.
