Ukraine began to apply the provisions of the Pan-Euro-Med Convention
02.01.2019 | 12:11 | Directorate for relations with state bodies and publicSince January 1, 2019 Ukraine and the European Union have been applying the provisions of the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin in the bilateral trade.
The Pan-Euro-Med Convention is an instrument establishing identical rules of origin for goods used within the framework of free trade agreements between its contracting parties.
In the future, the application of the Pan-Euro-Med Convention will increase the benefits for national exporters by opening additional opportunities for Ukrainian producers: they will be able to use the principle of diagonal commutation of origin of goods applied between the parties to the Convention, provided that there are free trade regimes between them.
There are currently 25 parties to the Convention, namely, EU, EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Kosovo, Macedonia, Morocco, Moldova, Palestine, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Faroe Islands and Montenegro.
Ukraine concluded free trade agreements with the following parties to the Regional Convention: EU, EFTA, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova and Montenegro. The Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Israel is being prepared for signing. Negotiations on the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey are ongoing.
In practice, the application of the provisions of the Pan-Euro-Med Convention means that a Ukrainian producer will be able to procure raw materials or components from one of the parties to the Convention and export finished products to another party to the Convention without paying customs duties or at reduced rates.
This will facilitate opening of new production capacities, greater extent of using the production potential, attraction in regional and international value chains.

European Commission approves the Plan for the Ukraine Facility
On Monday, 15 April, the European Commission approved the Plan for the Ukraine Facility and invited the EU Council to adopt the document. EU member states now have one month to adopt the Implementing Decision proposed by the Commission, which will pave the way for the full launch of the Ukraine Facility programme.

Denmark allocates DKK 300 million to support business projects of its companies in Ukraine
The Danish government allocates additional funds for the Danish-Ukrainian fund, which promotes the attraction of investments by Danish companies in Ukraine. This was stated by Minister for Business of Denmark Morten Bødskov during the Second Investment Forum on the Reconstruction of Ukraine. The event was opened by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
