French Region Ile-de-France Will Help in Restoration of Kyiv and Chernihiv Regions

French region Ile-de-France is considering the possibility of patronage over restoration of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

In particular, French experts will be able to provide Ukraine with their own assessment of revitalization of destroyed areas, as well as take part in the development of master plans, using the best experience in urban planning. Separately, it is important to note the possibility of using French experience and practices in waste processing and utilization, in particular in the field of agriculture.

This was announced by First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko following the meeting with President of Ile-de-France Regional Council Valerie Pecresse.

Thus, the leadership of the territory has already made a decision to allocate EUR 1.1 million for projects supporting Ukraine. It is currently necessary to determine specific actions for restoration of Chernihiv and Kyiv regions.

“It is important for us not just to restore the infrastructure and housing to the condition before the invasion of the Russian Federation. We have to rebuild them according to new principles and approaches. We are talking about modern urban planning, energy efficiency, accessibility and convenience for residents. We have to use the latest approaches to create transport, educational, recreational and, in general, the entire city infrastructure”, noted Yulia Svyrydenko.

The Minister of Economy added that the involvement of experts, tools and methods for building a highly efficient economy, which Ile-de-France has, will help make Kyiv and Chernihiv regions the drivers of the country's development. Cooperation with the region will be an important factor in accelerating the economic growth of these territories and Ukraine as a whole.
