eRobota: UAH 32 million in grants from the Government for veteran business development

єРобота: 32 млн грн грантів від держави на розвиток ветеранського бізнесу

Following the ninth wave of applications for grants for veterans, 17 winners will receive UAH 6.3 million in Government funds to start up or develop their businesses. In total, 88 veterans and family members of combatants have already won grants worth UAH 32 million since the launch of the veterans' component of the "Vlasna Sprava" grant programme. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna.

"Veterans and their family members are increasingly involved in the grant programme offered by the Government to support entrepreneurship. As of today, 88 winners will receive grants ranging from UAH 250,000 to UAH 1 million for their own business. 60% of them are veterans who are ready to start up a new business or scale up an existing business and involve their fellow soldiers in their business. Our defenders need to know that the state is ready to financially support them after they return from the frontline if they want to become entrepreneurs, and they can prepare their business ideas. Or they can already involve their wives or husbands in their implementation," said Tetiana Berezhna.

Among the 17 winners of the ninth wave, 11 are combatants and 6 are family members of veterans. Most of them – 10 winners – requested grants of up to UAH 250,000, 6 – up to UAH 500,000, and 1 – up to UAH 1 million.

The winners plan to use the grants to open a bakery, a coffee shop, a car wash, a beauty salon, a cosmetology clinic and an aesthetic medicine room, start a furniture manufacturing company, and an underwater diving company. In addition, a number of veterans have received grants to scale up their existing businesses: they plan to modernise petrol stations, increase the production of bread and bakery products, and manufacture granite and marble products.

Under the terms of the programme, combatants or persons with war-related disabilities, as well as their spouses, can receive the following grants:

  • UAH 250,000 for a veteran, provided that one job is created;
  • UAH 500,000 for the veteran's spouse, provided that two jobs are created;
  • UAH 1 million for a veteran who has experience in entrepreneurial activity and has been registered as an individual entrepreneur for at least 3 years, provided that four jobs are created, at least 2 of which will be held by veterans.

Grants of UAH 500,000 and UAH 1 million are provided on the condition of co-financing with the grantee in the ratio of 70/30, i.e. the grantee must invest 30% of his/her own funds in his/her business, and 70% of the funds will be provided by the state in the form of a grant.

Grant applications are submitted through the Diia portal along with a business plan.

As a reminder, the Government's eRobota project includes grant programmes aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship and job creation. These include microgrants for starting or developing a business, grants for setting up and developing processing plants, planting orchards, viticulture and greenhouses. Both existing entrepreneurs and people with no business experience can apply for a grant. Applications are currently being accepted for all areas of the eRobota programme. Applications are submitted via the Diia portal.
