Ukraine is ready to conclude a number of agreements with Bahrain on cooperation in various sectors of economy

The government invites the Kingdom of Bahrain to take part in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and offers its businessmen to get involved in investments in the Ukrainian economy and implementation of joint projects.

This was discussed during the meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) Rustem Umerov and Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Heorhii Dubynskyi.

“Despite the fact that the war still continues, the Government is focused on post-war reconstruction. In particular, the focus is on the development of the energy sector, agriculture, military-industrial complex and digitalization. During the war, Ukraine became a battlefield and test site for many types of weapons. I am confident that Ukrainian manufacturers will export weapons to many countries of the world in the post-war period,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The First Deputy Prime Minister invited Bahraini business representatives to consider the possibility of participating in a number of investment projects. It is about participation in the large privatization that will begin in Ukraine in the near future. The industry of aluminum production is promising for the representatives of this country. The Ukrainian side also presented the possibilities of the Diia state digital services portal and offered the Bahraini government cooperation in the development of a similar digital service and further cooperation in the field of IT.

The Bahraini side was also invited to participate in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will be held in June 2023 in London.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka noted that Ukraine aimed to protect digital business from bureaucracy in trade policy.

“Recently, Ukraine signed the Digital Trade Agreement with the UK, which became the second for this country after the agreement with Singapore. A similar agreement will be concluded with Canada in the near future. Therefore, we are ready to start negotiations with Bahrain regarding those agreements that are already under consideration, and at the same time we propose to establish a dialogue between different sectors of our economies,” said Taras Kachka.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised the prospects for the development of mutual relations between the countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain recognized cooperation in the field of digital technologies as promising, especially in creating and using artificial intelligence, both at the government level and in the field of business as well as the establishment of cultural ties between the citizens of both countries.
