The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) approved five new projects in Ukraine in the last quarter of the U.S. Government’s fiscal year 2023 (covering the period from July 1 to September 30, 2023), with a total cost of more than USD 380 million to support food security, small business, health care and international trade

“The cooperation of Ukrainian companies and banks with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), on the one hand, increases the stability of the Ukrainian economy, and on the other hand, it sends a powerful signal to investors from all over the world that even during war there is no need to be afraid to invest in Ukraine. Today, the DFC mandate allows supporting not only American investors, but also European and Ukrainian ones, for which we are grateful to our partners,” Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine, said.

In particular, DFC has allocated USD 250 million to support the efforts of Ukrainian poultry farmers and grain producers to mitigate the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

DFC has also announced two separate agreements totaling USD 60 million with Ukrainian banks to mobilize capital to sustainably support small and medium-sized businesses by facilitating their access to financing in Ukraine. USAID will support each of these transactions with technical assistance. Micro-enterprises, as well as small and medium-sized businesses, will have the opportunity to obtain financing from banks with relaxed requirements, as DFC guarantees will be used to supplement borrowers’ collateral.

The fourth project concerns guarantees in the amount of USD 50 million provided for the Global Trade Finance Program of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which expanded Ukrainian banks’ access to international trade financing. This project supports critical flows of both imports and exports for Ukrainian companies.

DFC also announced that it is providing USD 25 million in political risk insurance to the Superhumans Center, a non-profit center that works in the field of prosthetics and rehabilitation of people injured during the war in Ukraine.
