The Government supports entrepreneurs through the provision of grants to start or expand business - the state invested more than UAH 1 billion in one year. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna during a speech at the business forum “Doing Business in Ukraine: Challenges and Opportunities” in Warsaw.

“Own Business grant program is not only a program to support business development, it is also one of the elements of the policy of stimulating the return home of Ukrainians who were forced to go abroad because of the war. We understand that they will return if there are at least four conditions - security, the opportunity to work, have access to housing and to develop. We hope that the opportunity to receive financial support from the state for starting or expanding a business will stimulate entrepreneurs to return to Ukraine. In general, for almost a year of the grant program, we have more than 5,200 winners, and the state has already invested more than UAH 1 billion in the development of small and medium-sized businesses through grants,” Tetiana Berezhna said.

She reminded that under the Own Business grant program, Ukrainians may receive a micro-grant of up to UAH 250,000. These funds may be spent on purchasing or leasing equipment, purchasing raw materials and renting premises. Both an active entrepreneur and a person without experience in such activity may receive a microgrant. And she also emphasized that a mandatory condition for providing funds is the creation of 1-2 jobs depending on the amount of the grant, and the grant must be returned to the state in the form of taxes and fees paid by the entrepreneur within three years of the activity.

Deputy Minister of Economy urged entrepreneurs not to be afraid of obstacles and to transform knowledge into success, and also thanked them for working, paying taxes and creating jobs in this difficult time for the country, bringing our victory closer.

It should be noted that the business forum in Warsaw was organized by the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Program, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and in cooperation with Diia.Business Center Warsaw and the Polish Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers @ZPP.
