Trade Facilitation Agreement Working Group of the International Trade Council
For the purpose of implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (hereinafter – the TFA), internal coordination between central executive authorities responsible for implementation of the TFA and pursuant to paragraph 7.1 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 455 of 04.07.2017 “On establishment of the International Trade Council”*, the Trade Facilitation Agreement Working Group of the International Trade Council (hereinafter – the TFAWG) was constituted and entrusted the functions of the National Committee on Trade Facilitation according to Article 23.2 of TFA.
In 2018 the TFAWG held two meetings.
The first TFAWG meeting (12.06.2018) discussed personnel matters, in particular election of TFAWG head and deputy head, as well as approved basic principles and action plan of TFAWG (as approved by the protocol of the International Trade Council dated 03.09.2018).
One of the agenda items of the second TFAWG meeting (25.10.2018) was the discussion of draft action plan for implementation of TFA, which results were used by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine to elaborate the draft and submit it for the approval to competent executive authorities.
At the same time, at the last meeting, with the support of the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce (CLDP) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), a seminar on technical cooperation in the implementation of certain provisions of the TFA was organized for TFAWG members and other representatives of institutions/organisations engaged in the TFA implementation.
TFAWG action plan for 2019 is integrated in the Annual Action Plan of the International Trade Council.
