Announcement of the competitive selection of candidates for the position of a state representative – member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrainian Railway Joint-Stock Company

A competitive selection of candidates for the positions of members of the Supervisory Board of Ukrainian Railway Joint-Stock Company representing the state is announced in accordance with paragraphs 8 and 9 of the Procedure of selecting and approving candidates for state representatives appointed to the supervisory boards of unitary state enterprises and representatives attending general meetings and elected to the supervisory boards of business companies in whose authorized capital the state holds more than 50 percent of stock (stake), approved by the Resolution 143 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 10 March 2017 on certain aspects of management of state-owned assets (as amended by the Resolution 927 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 15.11.2019).

Main areas of the company’s activity: 

Ukrzaliznytsia JSC is a national passenger and freight carrier. The purpose of the company’s activity is to meet the needs in safe and quality rail transportation services, facilitate efficient operation and development of rail transport, create conditions for improvement of the sector’s competitiveness, and derive profit from commercial operations, in particular:

- passenger and freight transportation services, in particular, domestic and international transportation of hazardous cargoes, luggage, freight baggage and mail by rail;

- access to, and other services related to the use of, rail transportation infrastructure;

- design, construction, maintenance, operation, reconstruction, repair, modernization, upgrade, and other improvements of rail transportation infrastructure;

- construction of railroads and rapid transit networks;

- transportation of cargoes (movement of cargoes without a transportation contract) by public and nonpublic railroads;

- cargo loading, transloading, offloading, weighting, acceptance, release and fastening services, checking correctness of cargo loading and fastening;

- luggage, freight baggage and mail loading and offloading services on public and nonpublic railroads;

- service of guarding cargoes accepted for transportation, guarding artificial structures and facilities of rail transportation infrastructure, other protection services;

- storing and stacking cargoes of all types, including cargoes under customs control, and also freight baggage, checked and carry-on luggage of passengers;

- freight forwarding services, organization of rail transportation operations, organization of group or individual cargo shipments;

- manufacture, operation, modernization; in-depot, major, current and other forms of repair; maintenance with decoupling, and maintenance of rolling stock, containers and equipment operated in rail transport;

- centralized management of freight car fleets of various forms of ownership according to the strategic government policy, maintenance and operation of railroad terminal complexes, services of using railroad terminals.

Requirements to candidates, expected responsibilities of a member of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC Supervisory Board, scope of supervisory board member’s required competence

According to the Ukrzaliznytsia JSC Supervisory Board staffing principles, candidates for representatives of the state must meet the following requirements:

- having higher education, in particular, in the field of management and administration, transportation, finance, economics, audit, production and technologies, international relations or law;

- having at least five years of work experience in managerial positions;

Candidates for representatives of the state are required to have experience in:

- working on the supervisory boards of joint-stock companies;

- conflict management and negotiation;

- strategic and operations management;

- have impeccable business reputation.

The candidates are required to have work experience in one of the following fields: strategic management and business development, operations management, risk management, finance, audit, banking, international relations or law, which required the candidate’s professional experience and specialized knowledge.

Candidates for representatives of the state on the Supervisory Board are required to have impeccable business reputation, abide by the principles of impartiality and good faith, devote time to developing and maintaining their professional knowledge and skills.

A candidate is required by Ukrainian law to fulfill the following criteria:

A person who is a founder, shareholder (member), senior manager and/or member of the supervisory board of a company or another business organization operating in the same or related markets as Ukrzaliznytsia JSC cannot be a member of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC Supervisory Board.

  • a copy of applicant’s identity document, document proving citizenship, and labor book (if available) or documents proving work experience. This information must contain the exact period of employment in a position; position title; general set of duties performed in these positions; number of subordinates;
  • a copy of the higher education document;
  • a biographic reference (resume/CV);
  • consent to the processing of personal information (in Ukrainian and English);
  • references (if available).

A candidate may be held responsible for providing false documents.
