UK stands ready to keep providing Ukraine with very practical assistance: Yuliia Svyrydenko following the results of the meeting with David Cameron

Зустріч Першого віцепрем’єр-міністра України – Міністра економіки України Юлії Свириденко з державним секретарем у закордонних справах Великої Британії Девідом Камероном

Key areas for strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the UK were the subject of a meeting between Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and David Cameron, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Affairs, in London.

“They were the first to sign the Agreement on Security Cooperation with Ukraine. They support our army and our economy. They became the driving force behind our launch of war risk insurance for ships in the Black Sea. Ukraine is grateful for the leadership shown by the UK Government and every single citizen of the country in supporting Ukraine’s resilience,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine, our country has set a goal to achieve greater economic self-sufficiency this year. To achieve this target, the Government is working to expand export opportunities, including boosting non-resource exports, strengthening the energy sector, establishing joint defence enterprises, supporting Ukrainian producers, and channelling confiscated russian assets to support Ukraine’s recovery.

“Today, the Minister assured us that the UK stands ready to keep providing Ukraine with very practical assistance,” Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

Thus, an agreement has already been reached to expand the UNITY vessel insurance facility. The UK will also continue to support our defence, including the production and supply of drones for the Ukrainian military. The United Kingdom has allocated GBP 200 million for these needs. The partners are also willing to provide their expertise to improve the efficiency of privatisation in Ukraine. For Ukraine, this means an opportunity to attract additional investment in the country and turn loss-making enterprises into businesses that generate additional revenue for the state and jobs for Ukrainians.
