UAH 1.5 billion provided for to support business in Kharkiv region in 2024: Yuliia Svyrydenko

Для підтримки бізнесу Харківщини у 2024 році передбачено півтора мільярда гривень — Юлія Свириденко

This year, UAH 1.5 billion is provided for within business support programmes for entrepreneurs in Kharkiv region. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko during a working visit to Kharkiv region led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The meeting also included a presentation of the Made in Ukraine policy.

“As part of these UAH 1.5 billion, Kharkiv region businesses may use all the tools under the Made in Ukraine policy. These include grants for processing, microgrants, affordable loans, a mortgage programme, compensation to farmers for domestic agricultural machinery and other programmes. It is extremely important for us to support frontline regions such as Kharkiv region. More than 60,000 facilities have been damaged since the invasion. The war has hit the industry hard, although before the invasion, this sector was the key one for the region. Therefore, it is our duty to Kharkiv region and its residents to support them in their most difficult time,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.

In addition, given the regular shelling of the region and problems with electricity, according to First Deputy Prime Minister, the Government is working on a number of solutions.

In particular, the Government is considering increasing the amount of microgrants for businesses in Kharkiv region from UAH 250,000 to UAH 500,000. It is also considering expanding the microgrant programme for the self-employed to UAH 100,000. In addition, the potential introduction of a compensation programme for small, medium and large businesses in Kharkiv region for retaining or creating jobs within six months is being considered.

Ministries and agencies have been instructed to consider the possibility of providing portfolio guarantees to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Kharkiv, as well as setting preferential tariffs for rail freight from stations in the frontline areas.

Details of all these initiatives will be announced as they are finalised.

“Because of the lack of electricity and regular shelling, businesses in Kharkiv region are operating in extremely difficult conditions, purchasing tonnes of fuel per day to operate at least with the help of generators. That is why we are working on solutions that would help support entrepreneurs. So I urge Ukrainian businesses and citizens to support Kharkiv entrepreneurs with generators, fuel and orders for their goods. In this difficult time, it is important for us to be united as never before,” Yuliia Svyrydenko added.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister, the state has allocated a record UAH 45 billion to support Ukrainian business in 2024. According to forecasts, out of this year’s GDP growth of 4.6%, the contribution of these programmes will be 1%.
